1. Do cheap and easy MLM Due
Diligence first! How to do that? Go to one or two major search engines:
A. Enter the MLM Company's name and the word "scam". Go through 2
pages! Look for Forum/message comments for legitimate complaints.
B. Then do the same for "complaints, lawsuits, and News Articles
archived on searcj engines.
C. Also check who registered the website domain of any new
company claiming: amazing, incredible, proprietary, never seen before in
the universe, revolutionary, products, services or technologies! Check at
http://www.whois.net/
for the Domain lookup. Companies with wonderful
offerings would work a project for more than 3 months. Good businessmen register
name domains way ahead!
D. A warning on MLM due diligence for Newbies! There are sad sites
and forums that are unfairly negative toward all MLM - Network Marketing
companies. You ignore yap-yap "MLM Bashers" and only look for appropriate info.
2. Next do the next easiest Due
Diligence - Research and go to the Better Business Bureau online for the
city that the MLM-Network Marketing company is located in. Some are free some
Charge $2! You will need the name, address and phone number of the company. Do
be aware that some BBB offices are ignorant and call it Pyramid Marketing Arrgh!
The point to is looking at the number of complaints the BBB has NOT resolved. If
over 5 hold off joining it very could mean problems.

3. Next check with the
Attorney General in the State where the company is located.
Be very brief with your email or phone call and just stick with
asking, MLM Company XXX is located in City in your state, do you
complaints against them? A complete list of Attorney Generals
is at
MLM WatchDog Library
4. If email comes soliciting you to a
"HOT" MLM watch out!:
A. For exclamation marks and capital letters used to lend legitimacy or
urgency! Beware of disclaimers such as “this is not a Pyramid selling scheme or
scam” (legitimate offers don't contain such claims). Don't believe promises of
fast wealth.
B. If you see or hear "Get Rich Quick!": Run! If it sounds
too good to be true, it usually is! MLM - Network Marketing takes some work,
like any good Home Based Business.
C. Run from requests for money through a money order, check or
electronic transfers. Only use a credit card you can do a charge back on (Amex
best). Returns? Honest companies return money before 90 days!
5. When doing Due Diligence & Research on a
company always ask for and study the following items:
A. Enrollment Agreement or Terms of Agreement: Have no doubt these
are Business Contracts enforceable in a court of law you are signing. Is
this contract Fair to you? Don't sign, if you don't feel comfortable about the
Contract.
B. Policy and Procedures are part of the Contract above that you
sign. The MLM Distributor Rights Association says if they are over 15 pages
long - don't sign them! Read carefully and take action in accordance with
paragraph A above!
C. Copy of the Comp Plan if you don't understand it and want to know
more find an expert. There's a copy of my complan book on Amazon. Search for
my name by author. No this is not a shameless promotion for my book. It's the
only one with pictures, diagrams and details to help you. MLM Watchdog ethics
let me say it's good!
D. If a company doesn't pass 2 of these 3 tests don't join. If you
don't feel confortable after reading all three of theses, don't join!
